BACKGROUND
I grew up in the Berkshires in Massachusetts, but now consider Washington, DC home since I have lived in DC for over 15 years. I came to DC to attend college and received my undergraduate degree from The American University. I stayed in DC after graduation to work and to attend law school. I received my juris doctor degree from George Washington University Law School in 1994.
I practiced law for over 10 years (I am admitted to the bars of DC and Maryland), first as an in-house attorney for a DC-based telecommunications satellite company and then with the leading technology law firm in DC where I held the position of Counsel. My practice focused on structuring and negotiating complex technology-related contractual relationships, including satellite procurement and launch contracts and complex IT outsourcing arrangements. My practice required keen negotiating skills, an understanding of legal principles, and an ability to evaluate and craft contractual documents. My law clients included Fortune 100 companies who demanded the highest level of attention to detail, in addition to client service and care. I am so pleased to now apply these strong skills acquired in my law practice to benefit my real estate clients.
In addition to my legal experience, over the past several years, I have been an avid investor in real estate, including purchasing properties for rental and others for rehabilitation and/or re-sale. From simple interior design projects to large-scale renovations, I have worked to bring my investments to the height of their value potential. I can now share this experience with my clients to help them achieve their real estate goals.

SERVICES: BUYERS
Whether you are an experienced investor or a first time home buyer, I can help you in choosing the right property, preparing, presenting and negotiating your offer, arranging financing, moving, and everything involved in making a smart real estate purchase. As your "Buyer's Agent," the services I provide include the following:
- Helping you to obtain financing pre-approval and to understand the various financing options available.
- Researching the current listings of available properties to identify those that meet your individual search criteria and updating that search frequently to advise you of any new listings meeting that search criteria.
- Showing you the properties you elect to see.
- Performing a comparative market analysis to assess the asking prices for the homes you're considering.
- Explaining all elements of the offer process and the contractual documents and providing and preparing all offer-related documents.
- Negotiating with sellers and their agents on your behalf to ensure your interests are protected.
- Arranging and attending home and environmental inspections. Also, arranging pest inspections and bank appraisals on your selected home
- Preparing, with the aid of your lender, an estimate of anticipated closing expenses.
- Arranging and attending settlement as your resource to help answer any questions, resolve any last-minute issues and review settlement documents.
- Coordinating with your lender to ensure your financing is completed, and funding is received, in time for settlement.
- After settlement, providing referrals for everything from movers, to painters, to roofers, to wood floor refinishers and generally being an available resource to you to help you with any real estate related questions or issues that may arise. My job does not end at settlement.
SERVICES: SELLERS
If you are selling a home or an investment, I can help in preparing your property to show at its best, researching the market to identify the right price, and aggressively marketing your property to reach the greatest number of potential buyers. As your agent, the services I provide include the following:
- Meeting with you to understand your motivations and goals in selling and to explain the residential home selling process.
- Performing an assessment of your property to identify necessary or recommended improvements or changes to help your property to show at its best.
- Preparing a master schedule for preparing your home for its first showing, from completion of the improvement projects to preparation of the marketing materials to listing your property in the Multiple Listing Service to the first Open House.
- Performing a comparative market analysis to assess the best list price for you home.
- Preparing and executing a comprehensive, customized marketing plan, which may include professional photographs of the home, an on-line virtual tour, prominent web placements on this site and other high-traffic sites, agent announcements and agent preview tours, newspaper and magazine ads, open houses, and, of course, listing in the Multiple Listing Service.
- Explaining and preparing all required listing documents, including disclosures, and purchse contract documents.
- "Staging" your home with you, which can include rearranging furniture, removing excess furniture and clutter, and neutralizing your property to appeal to the broadest number of potential buyers.
- Hosting open houses.
- Communicating with buyers' agents to promote your property and to gather feedback.
- Reviewing all submitted offers with you and negotiating the terms on your behalf, until you have an accepted and fully ratified contract.
- Coordinating with the buyer's agent to arrange settlement and any agreed-upon inspections.
- Assisting you in preparing your property for final delivery to the buyers, including providing referrals for movers, house cleaners, handymen, etc.
- Attending settlement as your resource to help answer any questions, resolve any last-minute issues and review settlement documents.
- After settlement, generally being an available resource to you to help you with any real estate related questions or issues that may arise. My job does not end at settlement.
